Vizio’s free, ad-supported streaming television (FAST) service, WatchFree+, has taken a significant step towards greater accessibility by launching its own mobile app for iOS and Android devices. Previously exclusive to Vizio smart TVs, WatchFree+ is now available to watch anywhere, anytime.
The app is free to download for everyone, regardless of whether they own a Vizio TV. However, Vizio TV owners benefit from a seamless viewing experience, allowing them to pick up where they left off on their TVs if they need to pause their session. The app also provides personalized recommendations and access to their favorite channels.
WatchFree+ joins a growing list of FAST services like Pluto TV, Amazon Freevee, The Roku Channel, and Tubi, all offering a vast array of linear streaming channels. Similar to free, over-the-air TV stations, these FAST channels are free but supported by advertisements.
WatchFree+ boasts an impressive library of over 260 live entertainment channels, including 40 local channels featuring sports, news, and children’s programming. Additionally, users can access a catalog of over 15,000 movies and shows on demand, featuring popular titles like Law & Order, Deal or No Deal, and Project Runway.
While you can enjoy WatchFree+ content on the go, it’s important to note that access is currently limited to locations within the United States.
The Vizio app goes beyond just streaming, offering additional features for controlling your Vizio TV from home. These features include a remote control, a screen for setting your favorite streaming apps for quick access, and the ability to manage your streaming subscriptions.
