Fox News host Jesse Watters sparked controversy on Wednesday by comparing Donald Trump to King Kong during a discussion about the former president’s ongoing criminal trial. Watters suggested that requiring Trump to adhere to courtroom rules and trial schedule could lead to violent consequences, likening him to the giant, gorilla-like monster in the original creature feature. However, Watters’ colleagues quickly reminded him that King Kong meets his demise at the end of the film. Watters claimed Trump is being looked at “like an animal” by members of the press who have attended proceedings and suggested that he could eventually “bust out of this cage.” Co-host Harold Ford Jr. interjected, “They killed King Kong.” Jeanine Pirro and Tyrus echoed the sentiment, while co-host Dana Perino laughed. Watters admitted to not having seen the end of the 1933 film, which concludes with King Kong’s tragic death. Despite Watters’ suggestion that “King Kong 2” might have a different ending, none of the later films in the franchise have that title.
