The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather forecast for Wednesday, June 5, predicting heatwave-like conditions in parts of Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, East Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan. Meanwhile, heavy rainfall is expected in West Bengal, Assam, Meghalaya, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal, Kerala, and Karnataka.
Despite a slight decrease in temperatures, parts of Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and East Madhya Pradesh will still experience heatwave-like conditions on Wednesday. However, relief from the heat is expected in the coming days as temperatures are forecast to drop further.
The onset of the monsoon in the southern peninsula is bringing heavy rainfall to Kerala and other adjacent areas. Eastern states will also witness downpour under the influence of another branch of the monsoon.
The IMD has predicted heavy rainfall at isolated places over Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Assam & Meghalaya, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal, Kerala & Mahe, and Karnataka.
Isolated places in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi are expected to experience thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds (reaching 40-50 kmph) on Wednesday.
The IMD has also forecast lightning, hail, and squally winds in places over Uttarakhand and at isolated places over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal & Sikkim, and Bihar.
