Weber County Animal Services Launches ‘Rehome Your Pet’ Program

Weber County Animal Services, in an effort to maintain its no-kill shelter status despite being overcapacity, has launched a new program called ‘Rehome Your Pet.’ This program is designed to assist residents of Weber County in finding alternative homes for their pets, rather than surrendering them to the shelter.

Exclusively available to Weber County residents, the ‘Rehome Your Pet’ program allows owners to list their pets free of charge by completing a submission form on the shelter’s website. The form requests specific information about the pet and the owner, including name, breed, species, age, gender, and a detailed biography.

Owners are also asked to provide a reason for rehoming, specify how long they have owned the pet, disclose its origin, and indicate whether the pet has a history of biting or causing damage to other animals. Additionally, owners are required to upload an image of the pet and confirm that they are not a robot.

Once the submission is approved, the owner’s first name and phone number will be made available to prospective adopters. However, the shelter emphasizes that it does not take responsibility for the transfer of ownership through this program.

“We value each animal’s life and are dedicated to providing compassion, care and assistance to the animals in our community,” said Lieutenant Jackson of the Weber County Sheriff’s Office. “Rehome Your Pet is one way we can achieve our goal of a no-kill shelter.”
