West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee Invites Junior Doctors to Her Residence for Meeting

In a significant development, the West Bengal government, led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, has invited junior doctors to her residence on Saturday evening at 6 pm for a crucial meeting. This invitation comes in the wake of the ongoing impasse at RG Kar Medical College, where junior doctors have been staging protests demanding justice and transparency in the investigation of the alleged assault on one of their colleagues.

Earlier on Saturday, the agitating junior doctors sent a mail to the state government expressing their willingness to hold talks with Mamata Banerjee. The Chief Minister, in a surprise move, visited the doctors at their protest site outside ‘Swasthya Bhavan’, the health department headquarters, demonstrating her commitment to resolving the situation.

Speaking on behalf of the protesting doctors, one of them emphasized the need for transparency in the investigation. They asserted their willingness to meet the Chief Minister at any time and place to find a solution to the ongoing impasse. The meeting scheduled at the CM’s residence signifies a crucial step towards resolving the dispute and ensuring the smooth functioning of the medical college.
