WestJet Expands Network with New Daily Service from Edmonton to Atlanta

As a premier budget airline and the top holiday provider in Canada, WestJet Group is committed to offering cost-effective travel options to Canadians. Since its inception in 1996 with a modest team of just over 200 and a fleet of three aircraft, WestJet has been a trailblazer in the Canadian aviation sector. Originally serving five cities, the airline has significantly expanded its operations. It now boasts a workforce of over 14,000 people, nearly 200 aircraft, and offers flights to more than 100 destinations across North America, Central America, the Caribbean, Europe, and Asia. WestJet’s approach has notably halved airfares and increased the number of Canadians flying by over 50%.

Edmonton International Airport, overseen by the community-oriented, non-profit Edmonton Regional Airports Authority since 1990, ranks as the fifth-busiest airport in Canada. It accommodates 8.2 million passengers annually and provides direct flights to 50 global destinations.

Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is recognized as the world’s busiest and most efficient airport and is often rated as the best in North America. It plays a critical role in Georgia’s economy, contributing $34.8 billion and supporting over 63,000 jobs, making it the state’s biggest employer. As a major global hub, ATL offers direct flights to over 150 domestic and 70 international cities, covering key markets in Europe, Asia, the Caribbean, Africa, and the Americas. It also holds the record as the first airport to handle over 100 million passengers in a single year.

More than just a transit point, Hartsfield-Jackson is a vibrant center of activity. Its concession program, which includes over 300 retail and dining outlets, and a dynamic arts program featuring both permanent and temporary exhibits and live music, enhances the travel experience for its guests.
