WestJet Expands Partnership with Amadeus for Enhanced Travel Distribution

WestJet, a leading Canadian airline, has strengthened its partnership with Amadeus, a global travel technology provider, by renewing and expanding their existing distribution agreement. This expanded partnership aims to streamline travel booking experiences for advisors and customers worldwide.

Under this agreement, travel advisors globally will continue to have seamless access to all of WestJet’s fare options and merchandising capabilities. This ensures that advisors can easily offer travelers a wide range of options based on their specific needs and preferences.

WestJet is also committed to making its upcoming NDC-based offerings available on the Amadeus Travel Platform. This move aligns WestJet with 27 other airlines that currently utilize the Amadeus Travel API to deliver NDC-sourced content. This integration will seamlessly integrate WestJet’s NDC content into travel advisors’ booking systems, regardless of whether they use Amadeus Selling Platform Connect or applications powered by the Amadeus Travel API, including the Amadeus Cytric self-booking tool for corporate clients.

This expanded partnership underscores WestJet’s dedication to providing a comprehensive range of fares and unique merchandising offers to Amadeus subscribers. This enables travel advisors to offer travelers the best possible options tailored to their individual needs.

John Weatherill, WestJet’s Chief Commercial Officer, emphasized the significance of this expanded partnership in their broader distribution strategy: “This expanded partnership with Amadeus is a key element of our broader distribution strategy to prioritize our guests in every aspect of their experience, regardless of how they book. Whether they seek maximum flexibility, the lowest price, a premium experience, or something in between, we aim to empower travel advisors to offer travelers precisely what they want with WestJet.”

Rajiv Rajian, EVP and Chief Commercial Officer, Americas, Travel, Amadeus, echoed this sentiment: “We are excited to be WestJet’s distribution partner. We look forward to our continued partnership to support its retailing strategy and growth plans including enabling NDC content globally and at scale for the benefit of airlines, travel advisors and corporate customers.”

This enhanced partnership between WestJet and Amadeus signifies a significant step towards a more streamlined and customer-centric travel booking experience, benefitting both travel advisors and customers alike. It also highlights WestJet’s commitment to embracing modern distribution technologies like NDC to provide a wider range of options and enhanced flexibility to travelers.
