WhatsApp has introduced a new feature for organizing events within Communities, making it easier for group members to plan get-togethers and events directly in the app. This feature allows anyone in a group to create an event, set a date and time, and invite others to attend. Attendees can then RSVP to the event, and all participants can view the list of attendees within the group’s information page. Additionally, attendees will receive notifications as the event date approaches. This feature is initially being rolled out to groups belonging to Communities and will be made available to all groups in the coming months.
WhatsApp is also introducing the ability to reply to messages in Announcement Groups, which are used by admins to share updates with all members of a Community. Replies to these messages will be grouped together, allowing users to easily see what others have said. Furthermore, admins will not receive notifications for these replies, helping to keep Announcement Groups organized and free of unnecessary notifications. The goal of this feature is to facilitate communication between admins and group members while maintaining order within Announcement Groups.
WhatsApp launched Communities in November 2022 as a platform for neighborhoods, school associations, hobbyist groups, and other communities to connect and collaborate. Communities allow admins to combine up to 50 groups, enabling better communication and organization. WhatsApp plans to continue introducing new features and enhancements to Communities and groups in the coming months to further improve communication and collaboration among users.
