WhatsApp to Introduce In-App Dialer, Simplifying Voice Calls

In recent years, WhatsApp has emerged as one of the most popular instant messaging applications, connecting people worldwide through messages and calls. However, making calls to individuals not saved in the phone’s contact list has been a minor inconvenience. To address this issue, WhatsApp is reportedly developing a new in-app dialer feature, according to a recent report by WA Beta Info.

The latest WhatsApp beta update for Android, version 2.24.9.28, available on the Google Play Store, reveals the development of this new feature. The in-app dialer aims to simplify the process of making calls directly within the app, potentially eliminating the need to save phone numbers in the device’s address book.

This upcoming feature suggests that WhatsApp users could soon enjoy the convenience of dialling numbers directly from the app for temporary needs such as business discussions, quick enquiries, or transactions. This would allow users to call others directly from WhatsApp without having to save their numbers permanently or navigate away to make the call.

The publication also shared a screenshot, giving a glimpse of how the new dialler in the app could look like. The introduction of an in-app dialler could significantly enhance the user experience by enabling voice calls directly through WhatsApp using internet data, which is often more economical than traditional cellular network calls, particularly for international communication. This could be particularly beneficial for users with access to Wi-Fi or affordable data plans.

The feature is still in development and is slated for release in a future update. However, since WhatsApp hasn’t officially divulged details about the feature, it is wise to take this information with a pinch of salt.

Apart from the in-app dialler, WhatsApp is also reportedly working towards a feature that will make it easier for users to manage their favourite contacts. A screenshot shared by WA Beta Info suggested that users on WhatsApp will soon be able to add, reorder, and remove their favourite contacts and groups directly within the app’s settings. Scheduled for a future app update, this feature is designed to make it easier for users to access and organise their favourite contacts and groups from the calls tab. It’s worth noting that when contacts or groups are marked as favourites, no notifications are sent out regarding this change.
