Durham Regional Police have arrested a 53-year-old man from Apsley, Ontario, in connection with an alleged historic sexual assault. The incident is alleged to have taken place at a business in the area of Taunton Road and Brock Street in Whitby, where the complainant was employed by the suspect. Police allege that during the victim’s employment, the suspect made inappropriate remarks and touched the victim inappropriately. As a result of the investigation, Sean Godfrey was arrested and charged with three counts of sexual assault. He has since been released on an undertaking. According to the public register of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO), a pediatrician with the same name as the suspect practices at 200 Taunton Road West in Whitby. The CPSO’s website indicates that the pediatrician was charged on April 2, 2024, with three counts of sexual assault between January 1, 2020, and March 31, 2020, by Durham Regional Police Service. The pediatrician’s primary location of business is listed as Peterborough, but the public register states that he also works in Whitby and Simcoe. It is important to note that these allegations have not been proven in court.
