Wiim Unveils Ultra Network Music Streamer and Amp Pro with Enhanced Features

Wiim has officially launched its highly anticipated Wiim Ultra network music streamer, a stylish aluminum device featuring a 3.5-inch color touchscreen, physical volume knob, and dedicated headphone output. Priced at $329, the streamer will be available on Amazon between July 1 and September 30.

Wiim Ultra

In addition to the Ultra, Wiim has also introduced the Wiim Amp Pro, an upgraded version of its popular Wiim Amp. The Amp Pro boasts an enhanced DAC, improved analog-out performance, and dual-antenna Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity, priced at $369.

Features of the Wiim Ultra

The Wiim Ultra supports a wide range of digital and analog inputs and outputs, including HDMI ARC, line-in, phono-in, optical-in, USB-A, line-out, optical-out, coaxial-out, subwoofer-out, and a dedicated 3.5mm headphone output. It utilizes a 32-bit/384kHz ES9038 Q2M Sabre DAC for high-quality audio reproduction and supports Dolby Digital Audio.

The Ultra features dual-antenna Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity for stable and high-speed wireless streaming. It also incorporates a built-in room correction technology using a microphone to analyze room acoustics and optimize sound output for the specific environment. The 3.5-inch glass-covered touchscreen provides intuitive control, displaying app widgets, album pictures, playback controls, play queue, presets, EQ settings, and device settings.

Features of the Wiim Amp Pro

The Wiim Amp Pro shares the same physical design as the Wiim Amp but offers improved audio performance. It utilizes the same 32-bit/384kHz ES9038 Q2M Sabre DAC as the Ultra and incorporates dual-antenna Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity.

The Amp Pro exhibits an improved analog-out signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of 120dB compared to 98dB on the Wiim Amp. It also boasts a reduced analog-out total harmonic distortion (THD+N) of -105 dB (0.0005%) versus -92 dB (0.002%) on the Wiim Amp, resulting in clearer and more accurate sound reproduction.

Shared Features

Both the Wiim Ultra and Amp Pro offer an extensive suite of streaming features, including Chromecast Audio, Apple AirPlay, two-way Bluetooth, Apple HomeKit, Google Assistant/Home compatibility, Amazon Alexa compatibility with Alexa Cast and multiroom, DLNA, Spotify and Tidal Connect, and Roon Ready certification. They provide ample power for driving speakers, with the Amp Pro offering 60 watts per channel at 8 ohms or 120 watts per channel at 4 ohms for either two or four speakers. The devices can be controlled via the Wiim app, which allows users to access streaming services, adjust settings, and manage multiroom setups.
