Wildfire Evacuation downgraded near Teepee Creek, Alberta

An evacuation order issued for a portion of the County of Grande Prairie due to a wildfire near Teepee Creek has been downgraded to an alert. According to an update from the County of Grande Prairie No. 1 on Wednesday afternoon, the fire is now being held, and crews are working to protect evacuated neighborhoods. “Given the current weather conditions and resources, the wildfire is not anticipated to grow past expected boundaries,” read the update issued at 2:30 p.m. “Crews will continue to work in and monitor the area.” Residents in the affected area, which includes Township Road 741 to a quarter section north of Township Road 734 and Range Road 32 to the Smoky River, can now return home. However, they must be prepared to leave within one hour if fire conditions change. The county has provided information for residents returning to the evacuation zone, which can be accessed online.
