Veteran Brazilian winger Willian has confirmed his exit from Fulham after a two-year spell at the Premier League club. The 36-year-old, who previously represented Arsenal and Chelsea, signed a one-year contract extension last year, which has now come to an end. Recent reports in British media suggest that Willian is set for a move to Saudi Arabia.
In a heartfelt message on Instagram, Willian expressed his gratitude to Fulham. “I would like to thank Fulham for a wonderful two years. It was special to return to the Premier League and be part of this historic club and the amazing fans,” he wrote. “I have had incredible moments and this club will always be in my heart.”
During his time at Fulham, Willian made 58 Premier League appearances, scoring nine goals. Notably, he found the back of the net in a 2-1 victory against his former club Chelsea in January 2023, marking Fulham’s first league win over their West London rivals in 17 years.
As Willian departs, Fulham gears up for their opening Premier League fixture of the season, facing Manchester United later on Friday. The club will be hoping to build upon their impressive performances from last season, where they secured a comfortable mid-table finish under manager Marco Silva.
