Windows 11 26252 Build: New Power Settings and More

Microsoft has released Windows 11 build 26252, bringing a host of new features aimed at enhancing user experience and efficiency. One of the key additions is a new power setting that grants users more control over their PC’s power consumption when running on battery or plugged in. This enhanced control, as reported by Phantom Ocean 3 on X (formerly Twitter), will allow users to automate power settings, eliminating the need for manual adjustments based on power source. This feature is expected to be fully integrated with the upcoming 24H2 update, rumored to launch in October. However, users can access the hidden power option now by navigating to Settings > System > Power & battery > Power mode drop-down menu. Here, they’ll find two new options: On battery and Plugged in. It’s important to note that these options are not yet available for Windows 23H3 build users.

The update also includes several other notable features, such as the ability to directly pin apps to the taskbar and desktop from the Start Menu, an option to disable HDR to conserve power, and a revamped Weather app with more functionalities. Windows 11 Insiders will also notice an expiry date option in the Settings app’s About section.

Alongside these new additions, the Canary build incorporates fixes for several issues, including:
* Double display of pinyin in the input methods list during Windows Setup (OOBE).
* Missing text information on the Windows Update page.
* Duplicate text displayed when Power & Battery warns of slow charging.
* Resized icons in the Startup section to fit available space.

However, the update doesn’t address the persistent issue preventing Dev and Canary users from downloading the latest build. The only known workaround for installing the build is to manually use the official ISO file.

The forthcoming Windows 11 24H2 update is set to eliminate three popular applications, including the legendary WordPad. However, until the update’s official release, these features and changes are subject to modification, and we’ll have to wait to see the final implementation.
