For those who find the taskbar icons in Windows 11 a bit too bulky, there’s a glimmer of hope on the horizon. A hidden feature discovered in a beta build of Windows 11 (22635) hints at the possibility of smaller taskbar icons. This exciting development was uncovered by PhantomOfEarth using ViVeTool, a tool for configuring Windows settings. However, as with any feature in testing, there’s no guarantee that Microsoft will actually release it to the public.
While the option to shrink the taskbar icons appears to be in the works, there’s currently no corresponding feature to make the taskbar itself more compact. But there’s always a chance that Microsoft might introduce this functionality in future testing phases.
This feature, if implemented, would provide much-needed customization for those who prefer a less cluttered taskbar.
It’s worth noting that the ability to move the taskbar away from the bottom of the screen, a feature present in Windows 10, is still absent in Windows 11. Perhaps Microsoft will address this limitation in the future as well.
The journey towards a more customizable taskbar is ongoing. It’s exciting to see Microsoft exploring user feedback and potentially incorporating it into future Windows 11 updates. Stay tuned for more developments as the Windows 11 preview builds continue to evolve.
