Ryder, in a recent appearance on the podcast *Happy Sad Confused*, revealed that she and Reeves continue to communicate regularly through email. She shared, “We’re married in real life. In that scene, Francis [Ford Coppola, the director] used a real Romanian priest. We said our vows, and we did the whole thing. So I think we’re married.” She went on to explain that they still use endearing terms like “husband” and “wife” in their emails. “I email him and I’ll say, ‘Happy birthday, my husband.’ And he’ll email me back and say, ‘Hey, my wife, love you, KR 57.’ He always puts his age at the end. Always.”
The pair’s connection goes beyond their *Dracula* wedding. They have also shared the screen in *Scanner Darkly* (2006), *The Private Lives of Pippa Lee* (2009), and *Destination Wedding* (2018). Their bond, though, stems from that fateful day on the *Dracula* set.
While Reeves has said he doesn’t fully recall the details of the ceremony, he acknowledges the impact it has had on their relationship. “We did a whole wedding with a real priest. And Winona says we’re married. Francis says we’re married. So I guess we’re married under the eyes of God.”
