Woman Dies After Stabbing in Wildomar; Son Arrested on Suspicion of Murder

A 64-year-old woman died on Tuesday, April 23 after being stabbed in her Wildomar home on Monday night. Deputies arrested her son, 24-year-old Evan Jon Zavala, on suspicion of murder.

Deputies responded to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon at around 9:54 p.m. on Monday at the 33000 block of Breckenridge Trail in Wildomar, east of the 15 Freeway and north of Bundy Canyon Road. They found the victim inside a residence with stab wounds and took her to a hospital, where she died.

Zavala was arrested at 10 p.m. and is being held on $1 million bail. The motive for the stabbing is still under investigation.

A spokesperson for the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department said that this is an ongoing investigation and that no additional information is available at this time.
