X-ELIO, a global leader in the renewable energy sector, has partnered with Google to bring clean energy to its Texas operations. The agreement involves a 128-megawatt Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for sustainable electricity sourced from X-ELIO’s Bell Solar PV Plant in Texas. This solar farm, expected to be operational by the second half of 2025, will directly deliver power to Google through a shared network.
The Bell Solar PV Plant will also feature a 100 MW battery energy storage system, ensuring reliable energy supply on a 24/7 basis. This partnership supports Google’s ambitious goal to operate entirely on carbon-free energy across all its grids by 2030.
Beyond providing clean energy, X-ELIO is actively engaging with the local community near the project, implementing social initiatives as part of its commitment to community development in its operational regions.
Kerri Neary, Country Manager of X-ELIO in the US, highlighted the significance of this agreement in advancing X-ELIO’s strategy to provide renewable energy solutions for businesses. With a robust pipeline exceeding 5 GW, including 1 GW expected to reach operational status by the end of 2024, the United States is solidifying its position as a key market for X-ELIO.
Mirko Molinari, CCO of X-ELIO, emphasized the company’s dedication to meeting the sustainability needs of its partners, stating, “We are honored to collaborate with world-class partners such as Google and to join our paths to create a greener and more sustainable future.”
Amanda Peterson Corio, Global Head of Data Center Energy at Google, expressed excitement about the partnership, stating, “This agreement is a strong example of how executing PPAs more efficiently through our new scalable procurement approach evolves the way the industry sells and purchases power, and accelerates the buildout of carbon free electricity.”
X-ELIO, a Brookfield-owned company, boasts a global presence in Spain, Italy, the United States, Latin America, the Middle East, Japan, and Australia. With over 19 years of experience and 2.8 GW of projects built, X-ELIO is firmly committed to sustainability, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and combatting climate change.
This partnership between X-ELIO and Google serves as a powerful testament to the growing momentum towards a clean energy future, demonstrating the potential for businesses and technology giants to collaborate in achieving a more sustainable world.
