In a significant move towards a greener future, X-ELIO, a global leader in the renewable energy sector, has partnered with Google to deliver 128 megawatts of sustainable energy from its Bell Solar PV Plant in Texas. This Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) marks a pivotal step for both companies, aligning with Google’s ambitious goal to operate on 24/7 carbon-free energy across all its operational grids.
The Bell Solar PV Plant, scheduled to begin operations in the second half of 2025, will contribute directly to Google’s Texas operations, providing a clean and reliable energy source. Notably, the agreement involves a physical PPA, allowing X-ELIO to deliver power directly to Google through a shared network.
Beyond the solar farm, X-ELIO will also incorporate a 100 MW battery energy storage system, further strengthening the project’s ability to meet energy demands on a 24/7 basis. The company is also actively engaging with the local community near the project to develop social initiatives as part of their Community Plan policy.
This partnership underscores X-ELIO’s commitment to fostering a sustainable future, a commitment echoed by both Kerri Neary, Country Manager of X-ELIO in the US, and Mirko Molinari, CCO of X-ELIO. Neary highlights the agreement as a milestone in X-ELIO’s strategy to provide renewable energy solutions for businesses, citing the company’s strong presence in the US market. Molinari emphasizes the shared commitment to sustainability, highlighting the collaboration with Google as a testament to their shared vision for a greener future.
Amanda Peterson Corio, Global Head of Data Center Energy at Google, reiterates the company’s dedication to achieving 24/7 carbon-free energy across its operations by 2030. This agreement, she emphasizes, is a testament to Google’s commitment to expanding its carbon-free energy portfolio and supporting its operations in Texas with clean power. The partnership also showcases Google’s innovative approach to PPA execution, aiming to streamline the process and accelerate the development of carbon-free electricity.
This collaboration between X-ELIO and Google not only contributes to a cleaner energy landscape but also exemplifies the growing momentum towards sustainable business practices. The agreement highlights the power of strategic partnerships in achieving ambitious environmental goals, paving the way for a future powered by clean, renewable energy.
