Xavien Howard Cleared for Football Activities, Seeks New Team

Former Miami Dolphins cornerback Xavien Howard has taken a significant step towards securing a new home after being released in March. According to NFL Media’s Tom Pelissero, Howard’s doctor has informed NFL teams that the veteran corner has been cleared for all football activities. Howard struggled with a foot injury at the tail end of the 2023 season, causing him to miss Miami’s final two games. In a bid to save salary cap space, the Dolphins released Howard with a post-June 1 designation. While Howard expressed his desire to play for his hometown Houston Texans in March, there have been no further indications of a potential deal with the AFC South team. With the NFL Draft set to commence, it is anticipated that Howard’s eventual suitor will be a team that is unable to secure cornerback help during the event. This move by Howard and his doctor is a clear indication of his eagerness to return to the field and contribute to a new team.
