Annapurna Interactive and Microsoft have revealed a lineup of eight games that will be added to the Xbox Game Pass subscription service throughout the first half of July. The selection boasts a variety of titles, with a notable focus on captivating indie games. Among them, ‘Neon White’ stands out as a standout addition, being a personal favorite indie game from the 2020s, and now finally making its way to Xbox and directly into the subscription service. Originally released in 2022 on other platforms, ‘Neon White’ was developed by Angel Matrix, a studio founded by the creator of ‘Donut County,’ Ben Esposito. While classified as a first-person shooter, it deviates from the traditional ‘Doom’ or ‘Call of Duty’ formula. Players strategically use cards to activate weapons, which simultaneously serve as both offensive tools and platforming aids. This unique gameplay mechanic transforms ‘Neon White’ into a speedrunning-focused puzzle platformer rather than a conventional shooter. The game’s creative approach is complemented by a captivating storyline revolving around a group of criminals in the afterlife. Its creative nature and engaging narrative make ‘Neon White’ a highly recommended experience, whether you’re revisiting or playing it for the first time on Xbox. However, it’s not the only standout indie game arriving this month. ‘The Case of the Golden Idol,’ ‘Tchia,’ and ‘Flock’ are also part of the exciting lineup.
