Yale Students Stand in Solidarity with Columbia University Protesters, Sparking Outrage

Yale University students have set up a ‘Liberated Zone’ encampment to express solidarity with pro-Palestine protesters at Columbia University in New York. The protests stem from demands to cease Israeli military action after Hamas launched an attack on the country in October.

Amidst the ongoing demonstrations, a wealthy young woman named Isabel Jennifer Seward, now 20, was arrested. In 2020, she was involved in a fatal crash that killed a Vermont couple. Despite allegations of reckless driving and potential texting while driving, Seward received only a $220 fine as punishment.

The victims’ family, particularly their 49-year-old niece, Eve Taylor, is outraged by Seward’s lack of remorse and her participation in anti-Israel protests. They believe her father’s wealth and influence protected her from facing more severe consequences.

Taylor is calling for the Vermont State Police to reopen the investigation into her aunt and uncle’s deaths. The Rutland Herald reported that conflicting information was given to the police by Seward, and another driver captured the crash on video. Despite this, her name was initially redacted from public records, sparking a dispute between law enforcement and the progressive prosecutor’s office.

The Columbia University protests have also seen the arrest of Isra Hirsi, the daughter of Representative Ilhan Omar. The situation on campus remains tense, with concerns raised about the safety of Jewish students.
