Yankees Manager Aaron Boone Ejected for Comment Made by Fan

Yankees manager Aaron Boone was ejected from Monday afternoon’s game against the A’s in Yankee Stadium after a fan seated behind the dugout yelled something.

The incident occurred early in the game, with home plate umpire Hunter Wendelstedt telling Boone that one more word and he was gone. Despite Boone’s protests that he did not say anything, Wendelstedt ejected him based on what he thought he heard.

According to YES Network announcers, Wendelstedt told Boone, “I don’t care who said it. You’re gone.” Boone was seen pointing up into the crowd after the ejection and replays appeared to show a fan in a blue shirt in the front row yelling something.

The ejection was Boone’s 35th career ejection, tying him for 48th all-time. It was also his first ejection for something that was yelled by a fan.
