After scoring the hundred against MI in Jaipur on April 22, Monday, Yashasvi Jaiswal came in running to meet and share a warm embrace with Brian Lara. Jaiswal roared back into form with 104 off 60 balls against Mumbai, which powered RR to their 7th win of the season.
Jaiswal struggled in the first 7 matches of the season. However, he was able to find his nick at the right time as his hundred helped RR hammer MI by 9 wickets. After the match was done, Jaiswal went on to share a heartwarming moment with Lara, who was shown having a chat with RR skipper Sanju Samson. Jaiswal would come running in and hug the West Indies cricket legend and both men shared pleasantries.
Lara was visibly happy to see that Jaiswal had returned to form with the bat during the match. You can see the full video below:
Lara would heap praise on Jaiswal after his knock against MI and said that young batter took a lot of responsibility for his side during the knock. “Yeah, it’s a beautiful innings by the young man. And, when I say, you know, you don’t have to be that aggressive, he still scores at a very high strike-rate. But the fact matter is taking his time, looking at the ball right close to the bat and he’s playing proper cricket shots,” said Lara.
“And remember, he plays all forms of the game. So, he’s got all the shots. He doesn’t have to worry about it. And when you do get on top of the bowlers and that’s when you take advantage, and that’s what I love about this innings. It was well put together. Great cricketing shots. And anyone knows, if you’re chasing such a total at Jaipur and you’ve got through the innings, then your team is gonna get there. So he took a lot of responsibility, a lot of maturity, and I’m very happy for the young man,” said Lara.
Jaiswal will be hoping to continue the momentum as RR travel to Lucknow to face LSG next on April 27.
