West Indies cricket legend Brian Lara was impressed with the maturity shown by Yashasvi Jaiswal in his innings against Mumbai Indians. Jaiswal ended a barren run by his lofty standards with his first ton of this IPL to power Rajasthan Royals to a nine-wicket win over MI here.
Lara praised Jaiswal’s ability to balance taking his time with shots while still maintaining a high strike rate. He highlighted Jaiswal’s cricketing shots, powerful leg-side shots, and crispy drives throughout his unbeaten 104 from only 60 balls.
Lara noted that Jaiswal has shown a lot of responsibility and maturity. He expressed happiness at having him back in form and praised his ability to manage the innings well, especially when chasing a good total at Jaipur.
Lara also commended medium pacer Sandeep Sharma for his stellar performance with the ball for RR. Sharma wreaked havoc in the MI camp with the ongoing IPL season’s best bowling performance of 5 for 18. Lara acknowledged Sharma’s journey as an unsold player a couple of years ago to becoming a replacement player who is cherishing every moment on the field.
Lara praised Sharma’s professionalism and his ability to get the job done every time he goes out to the middle. He described Sharma as a consummate professional that every team likes to have in their ranks.
Former Australia skipper Aaron Finch lauded Sanju Samson’s leadership skill, citing RR’s calmness under pressure and their clinical approach throughout the IPL. Finch attributed much of the credit for RR’s success to Samson’s leadership.
In his knock against MI, Jaiswal struck nine fours and seven sixes. He has showcased his talent and maturity, impressing Lara and other cricket experts. With the win, RR consolidated their top spot and inched closer to the playoffs.
