YSRCP Leader Dola Jagan Mohana Rao Joins TDP in Andhra Pradesh

Dola Jagan Mohana Rao, a prominent YSRCP leader and former chairman of the Srikakulam District Cooperative Central Bank (DCCB), has switched his allegiance to the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). The move, which took place on April 24 in the presence of TDP national president N. Chandrababu Naidu, marks a significant shift in the political landscape of Andhra Pradesh. Jagan Mohana Rao’s father, Dola Sitaramulu, held the Narasannapeta Assembly constituency as an MLA from 1978 to 1983. Jagan, after a four-decade-long association with the Congress, joined the YSRCP after the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh. Notably, he contested the Narasannapeta seat during his tenure as president of the Srikakulam District Congress Committee.

TDP State president K. Atchannaidu and Srikakulam MP K. Rammohan Naidu welcomed Jagan’s decision to join their party, citing the esteemed reputation of the Sitaramulu family among the people of Srikakulam. They emphasized the family’s unwavering service to the district. Sources speculate that Jagan’s entry into the TDP will bolster the TDP-BJP-JSP alliance, particularly in constituencies with a sizeable population of the Turpu Kapu community, to which Jagan belongs.
