Zach Wilson’s mother, Lisa Wilson, couldn’t contain her excitement following the trade of her son from the New York Jets to the Denver Broncos. Taking to Instagram, she expressed her joy with a series of posts.
In one post, Lisa shared a photoshopped image of Wilson in a Broncos jersey, captioning it, “Excited for a fresh new start. Let’s go!” along with blue and orange heart emojis. Another post featured a video of the family home in Utah adorned with orange and blue balloons and Broncos flags.
“Surround yourself with people [that] love you, cheer for you and want you to succeed,” Lisa wrote alongside the video. Zach Wilson’s father, Michael Wilson, was also spotted sporting a Broncos jersey with the number 11, currently worn by QB Ben DiNucci.
The trade to the Broncos marks a fresh start for both parties. The Jets can now move away from trying to mold Wilson into their future quarterback, while Wilson gets the chance to develop with a new organization after things in New York simply did not work out. During his time with the Jets, Wilson completed 566 passes for 6,293 yards, 23 touchdowns, and 25 interceptions. He also rushed for 498 yards and five touchdowns.
In the trade, Wilson was sent to Denver along with a seventh-round pick in exchange for a sixth-round pick.
