Zach Wilson’s Mother Expresses Optimism as Quarterback Heads to Denver Broncos

Zach Wilson’s mother, Lisa, took to Instagram Stories on Monday to express her optimism about her son’s future after he was traded from the New York Jets to the Denver Broncos.

“Excited for a fresh new start,” she wrote, along with a video showing orange and blue balloons and Broncos flags outside her door.

Zach Wilson, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, had a disappointing tenure with the Jets, starting 11 games in 2023 and compiling a 4-7 record. Despite his struggles, his mother remains confident in his abilities.

“Surround yourself with people (that) love you, cheer for you and want you to succeed,” she wrote over the video.

The Broncos, led by new head coach Sean Payton, have an open competition at the quarterback position. Wilson will compete with Jarrett Stidham and Ben DiNucci for the starting job.

Denver also holds the 12th overall pick in the upcoming draft, giving them the opportunity to add another talented player to their roster.

Wilson’s trade to the Broncos marks a fresh start for the young quarterback. He will have the chance to prove himself in a new environment and compete for a starting role on a team with Super Bowl aspirations.
