Zaeden and Nina Shah, a musical power couple whose love story began in the pulsating world of electronic dance music, tied the knot in a vibrant celebration that was as unique as their journey together. They met in 2015, drawn together by fate and a shared passion for music, their paths crossing at a college show in Bangalore. From the moment they met, there was a spark, a connection that blossomed into a love story written in the language of music and shared dreams.
Their musical collaboration, starting with the hit song “Never Let You Go” in 2016, served as a beautiful soundtrack to their burgeoning romance. Zaeden, a pop singer-songwriter known for his infectious melodies, openly shared his love for Nina through social media posts and podcasts. But as their relationship grew, they recognized the importance of carving out a space for their love, away from the constant noise and pressures of the public eye. They cherished their private moments, traveling together, exploring each other’s families, and letting their shared passion for music guide their journey.
Their engagement was a testament to Zaeden’s romantic spirit. He planned a surprise proposal during a family trip to Thailand, Nina’s birthplace. With the help of her best friend, Julie, he discreetly found out her ring size and even asked her brother for his blessing, a touching tribute to Nina’s late father. He then worked with the staff at the Four Seasons, Koh Samui to create a magical setting on the beach. The proposal was a beautiful blend of tradition and heartfelt sentiment. Zaeden surprised Nina with a rendition of “Tere Bina”, a song he wrote for her, while a Thai musician played in the background. As he remembers, “It even started to drizzle lightly,” adding a touch of romantic magic to the moment.
Their wedding was a breathtaking celebration of love and culture. Held over two days in North Goa, it was a meticulously planned affair, reflecting the couple’s love for bohemian style and their desire to honor both their Indian and Western heritage. The wedding venue, Sere, a newly-launched resort owned by Zaeden’s best friend, was transformed into a paradise of tropical flowers, sparkling lights, and white and pastel drapings.
The wedding festivities began with a meet-and-greet for the extended families at the Oberoi Gurgaon, Zaeden’s hometown. The days that followed were filled with a mix of traditional Indian rituals and modern celebrations. The baraat and sangeet, with a vibrant varmala exchange, took place at Sere, followed by a haldi ceremony. The culmination of the wedding celebrations was a beautiful ceremony at Summer House Goa, as the sun set over the Chapora River, followed by a joyous reception party.
Their wedding attire was a reflection of their pan-cultural vision. For the varmala and sangeet, they wore Faraz Manan, with Nina sporting a stunning corset and Sharma adorned with pearls and Swarovski crystals. For the wedding vows, they chose Tarun Tahiliani, with Nina wearing a regal ivory lehenga and Zaeden looking dapper in a signature ivory sherwani.
The wedding menu was a delightful fusion of flavors, featuring dishes curated by Jamun Goa, while Hideaway, a Vagator-based award-winning bar, served signature cocktails named after the groom’s relatives and inspired by classic songs. The inclusion of Padaria Prazeres’ Pastéis de Nata, a beloved Portuguese pastry, added a touch of nostalgia to the celebrations.
Music played a pivotal role throughout the wedding festivities, with Zaeden serenading Nina with an acoustic version of Elvis Presley’s “Can’t Help Falling In Love” as she walked down the aisle. It was a heartfelt tribute to Nina’s late father, who loved the song. The entire event was captured for posterity by Stories by Joseph Radhik.
Zaeden and Nina’s wedding was a true testament to their love story – a story woven with music, culture, and a deep respect for their traditions. It was a celebration that brought together their families and friends in a beautiful tapestry of shared joy and unforgettable memories. As they embark on their new journey as husband and wife, their love story continues to inspire, reminding us that sometimes, the greatest romances are born under the brightest lights of the music scene.
