Zehnder’s Fortress Golf Course, located in the Bavarian-style town of Frankenmuth, Michigan, has unveiled a new 3,000-square-foot Pavilion, enhancing the guest experience and adding a vibrant space for social gatherings. Strategically positioned opposite the Fortress Clubhouse and Pro Shop, the Pavilion offers stunning views of the course’s first tee and 18th green, making it a lively hub of activity.
The Pavilion is designed to accommodate a variety of events, from pre- and post-golf gatherings to larger banquets. With a capacity of 180 guests, the Pavilion can cater to a range of needs. “Our players and other guests will be able to host and enjoy a variety of golf and personal events amid our lush fairways and greens,” said John Shelton, Zehnder’s Vice President of Marketing. “The Pavilion has a 180-guest capacity and can accommodate everything from barbeques to banquets.” Guests can also enjoy snacks, lunch, and dinner with full bar service. The Pavilion is open from mid-April through October, weather permitting, Monday – Friday from 8:00a.m. to 8:00 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
In addition to the new Pavilion, The Fortress has also upgraded its fleet of golf carts with GPS technology and screens, enhancing the golfer’s experience. The course is also undergoing a major overhaul of its infrastructure with a massive 168,000 square feet of cart paths being upgraded, scheduled for completion by spring 2025. Looking ahead, plans are in place to construct a 13,000-square-foot banquet facility for events throughout the year, alongside proposals for a new lodging option.
Nestled in Frankenmuth, a town renowned for its Bavarian charm, The Fortress is part of a larger tourist attraction that draws over three million visitors annually. Zehnder’s of Frankenmuth, which owns The Fortress, also operates a 1,500-seat award-winning restaurant, the Zehnder’s Splash Village Hotel and Waterpark, a retail marketplace, and the esteemed 18-hole championship golf course. With these additions and upgrades, The Fortress Golf Course is poised to offer an even more enhanced experience for its guests, solidifying its position as a premier destination in Michigan.
