Zeke Elliott Reunion with Dallas Cowboys Discussed, but No Deal Yet

The Dallas Cowboys have reportedly met with their former Pro Bowl running back, Ezekiel Elliott, to discuss a possible return to the team. The two sides are said to be in talks about a potential deal, but no agreement has been reached as of Wednesday.

The Cowboys had previously been linked to both Elliott and Dalvin Cook as possible free agent targets, but they ultimately signed Royce Freeman last week. Elliott, who turns 29 in July, had a productive season with the Patriots last year, rushing for 642 yards and three touchdowns. He is likely to have a better sense of his options once the NFL Draft takes place.

According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, the Cowboys met with Elliott and his agent, Rocky Arceneaux, on Wednesday. However, no deal is said to be close at this time.

Stephen Jones, the Cowboys’ executive vice president, reportedly met with Elliott and his agent at the Cowboys club. However, Clarence Hill Jr. of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports that “nothing is happening” and “nothing is imminent at all.”

The Cowboys likely intend to draft at least one running back this year. Elliott will probably have a much better idea about his options once the draft takes place.
