ZF Wind Power has reached a significant milestone in its commitment to India’s renewable energy sector. The company announced the production of 50 GW of gearbox capacity at its manufacturing facility in Coimbatore, making it the largest plant for wind gearbox production in the world, excluding China. This achievement underscores ZF’s dedication to supporting India’s ambitious renewable energy targets, specifically the goal of doubling the nation’s wind power capacity by 2030.
ZF’s Coimbatore plant serves as a key export hub, supplying gearboxes to both domestic and international customers. Peter Laier, member of the board of management at ZF Group, stated, “ZF Wind Power is a leading gearbox supplier in India, and this plant provides gearboxes to both domestic and global customers. The ZF Group’s investment in the expansion of production facilities is a testament to the long-term goals and growth potential for the region. With the expanded facilities, we will be positioned to contribute significantly to achieve India’s ambition of doubling the nation’s wind power capacity by 2030.”
Akash Passey, president of ZF Group in India, expressed pride in achieving this milestone, emphasizing the company’s commitment to technological advancements and capacity expansion. He mentioned that ZF had already invested Rs 750 crore earlier this year during the Global Investors Meet in Chennai, further highlighting its dedication to the Indian market.
