Diners at a Toby Carvery restaurant in Stoke-on-Trent were left horrified when a nesting goose was kicked in the head in a cruel act of violence. The incident took place outside the restaurant in Festival Park, which was crowded with customers at the time.
RSPCA officer Sophie Taylor, who attended the scene on Marina Way, reported that the Canada goose fortunately showed no signs of injury. The animal charity is now seeking to identify the individual responsible for the attack, which occurred around 3.15pm on Sunday, April 14th.
Staffordshire Police have also been notified about the incident, which is believed to have been witnessed by those dining inside the restaurant. Taylor emphasized the importance of showing kindness and respect towards all animals, especially vulnerable nesting birds like geese.
All wild birds are protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, making it illegal to deliberately kill, injure, or take one without a license. Taylor noted that the attack happened in a highly public location, increasing the likelihood that someone may have witnessed it. The RSPCA urges anyone with information about the incident to contact them on 0300 123 8018.
