South Dakota Governor’s Book Stirs Controversies with Unverified Claims

South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem’s recently released book, ‘No Looking Back,’ has generated significant controversy due to unverified claims made within its pages. Among the disputed assertions is an account of a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron, which Noem claims to have canceled due to his perceived bias against Israel. The French government has strongly refuted this claim, stating that no such meeting was ever scheduled.

Another controversial passage in the book pertains to Noem’s admission of killing her pet dog, ‘Cricket,’ and an unnamed family goat. This disclosure has drawn widespread criticism from animal lovers and sparked calls for her to be held accountable for her actions.

Noem has also faced scrutiny for her claim to have met with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. Despite initially denying any wrongdoing, she later admitted that the anecdote was mistakenly included in the book and had since been corrected.

The book’s release has coincided with Noem being considered a potential vice presidential candidate for former President Donald Trump. However, Trump has declined to comment on whether she remains on his shortlist, acknowledging only that she has experienced a ‘rough couple of days’ in the wake of the controversies surrounding her book.
