Mumbai Rains Disrupt Train Services, Metro, and Traffic

Heavy rains and gusty winds lashed Mumbai and adjoining areas on Monday, disrupting transportation services across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR).

Local Train Services Affected

Local train services on Central, Harbour, and Western railway lines were running behind schedule by at least 15 to 20 minutes due to the inclement weather. Western Railway announced that all Western Line suburban trains were running behind schedule due to technical issues, while Central Railway attributed the delays to sudden rains and strong winds.

Metro Services Impacted

Metro train services between Aarey and Andheri East were affected due to debris becoming entangled on the OHE near Airport Road Metro station. As a result, Metro services were also disrupted between Ghatkopar and Versova.

Traffic Delays

The heavy rains and winds also led to traffic delays in several areas of Mumbai. Traffic movement was slow at Kamraj Nagar north bound due to a fallen hoarding, at IIT Powai due to a tempo breakdown, and at Freeway Tunnel Trombay south bound due to an accident.

Other Impacts

The downpour also caused trees and hoardings to fall in some areas of Mumbai. According to the Mumbai Regional Meteorological Center (RMC), the maximum temperature was around 35°C, while the minimum temperature was around 28°C.
