The Sydney International Convention Centre (ICC Sydney), operated by ASM Global, has once again produced a standout graduate from the AIPC Future Shapers leadership program. Gabriella Alberici, Senior Manager of Business Development for Corporate, Government & Events at ICC Sydney, led the ‘FutureForce’ team to victory at the AIPC Congress in Costa Rica this week. The team, which also included Samantha Glass, Director of Corporate Affairs, Communication, and Sustainability, developed a groundbreaking technological platform aimed at addressing key challenges in the business events industry.
Their platform is designed to attract global talent, enhance career development, and improve networking and learning opportunities within the industry. It also aims to increase awareness of the business events sector and optimize its most valuable resource: its people. This innovative approach earned the team recognition alongside their peers from convention centers in Paris, Belfast, and Kuala Lumpur.
Geoff Donaghy, ICC Sydney’s CEO and Group Director of Convention Centres for ASM Global (APAC), commended Alberici and Glass for their dedication to innovation. “Our investment in upskilling and training coupled with our people’s ingenuity ensures that ICC Sydney remains at the forefront of event management and technical delivery,” he said. “We are incredibly proud to have established a culture that encourages our team of professionals to participate in this world-class program that fosters innovation back in our business while building their global networks – which underpins the success we deliver for our clients today and into the future.”
The AIPC Future Shapers program, led by AIPC CEO Sven Bossu and supported by an international taskforce, is specifically designed for senior managers with established leadership capabilities. It provides a dynamic learning environment that fosters practical outcomes benefiting the entire industry.
Samantha Glass, a program founder and ICC Sydney’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Communication, and Sustainability, highlighted the program’s impact: “We set out to deliver a unique program to accelerate the leadership and entrepreneurial skills of our industry’s high performers. This year the participants have once again presented practical solutions to solve industry problems – attracting and retaining our brand and therefore talent and improving and clarifying communication for operational teams in centers. I could not be prouder of their collective efforts and performance throughout the nine-month program. I wish them every success in the future as they take their learnings back to their organizations – while helping to elevate and shape the future of events across the globe.”
ICC Sydney’s participation in the Future Shapers program has yielded impressive results. The venue has consistently produced a strong alumni base, with past participants including Dana Fish, Senior Manager of Business Development for National Associations, Sathyan Chandrasekhar, Financial Controller, and Sandra Rae, Senior Manager of Public Relations. This latest success solidifies ICC Sydney’s commitment to fostering talent and innovation within the business events industry.
