The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports’ Mission Olympic Cell (MOC) has demonstrated its commitment to supporting Indian athletes in their quest for glory at the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games by approving multiple proposals for equipment assistance.
In a recent meeting, the MOC granted approval for Paralympic Table Tennis medallist Bhavina Patel’s request for assistance to participate in the ITTF Para Table Tennis Asia Training Camp 2024 in Thailand from July 16 to 20. This support extends to her coach and escort as well.
The MOC also responded positively to requests from Para Shooters – Manish Narwal, Rudranksh Khandelwal, Rubina Francis, and Sriharsha R Devareddy – for various sport shooting-related equipment. These include an Air Rifle for Sriharsha and a Morini Pistol for Rubina. Additionally, assistance was granted for the procurement of two Javelins (Valhalla 800g Medium NXB and Diana Carbon 600g) for para-athlete Sandeep Choudhary.
Furthermore, the MOC approved financial assistance for the procurement of archery equipment for Archers Ankita Bhakat, Deepika Kumari, and para-archers Sheetal Devi and Rakesh Kumar.
Judoka Tulika Maan received approval for assistance to train at the Valencia Judo High Performance Centre in Spain until July 25, along with her coach.
The MOC also granted table tennis player Manush Shah’s request for financial assistance for training in Gyeonggi Do, South Korea, under Korean Coach Taejun Kim. His request for procurement of physical fitness equipment was also approved.
The MOC’s commitment to athlete development extends beyond equipment assistance. The organization has included athletes Suraj Panwar, Vikash Singh, and Ankita Dhyani, along with swimmer Dhinidhi Desinghu, in the TOPS Core group. Additionally, athletes Jeswin Aldrin, Praveen Chithravel, Akashdeep Singh, and Paramjeet Singh were promoted from the TOPS Development to the Core Group. This recognition signifies the potential of these athletes and their entry into a program designed to provide them with the resources and support needed to achieve peak performance.
Through these various initiatives, the MOC demonstrates its unwavering support for India’s athletes as they prepare for the prestigious Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. This comprehensive approach, which includes equipment assistance, training camps, and inclusion in elite athlete programs, reflects the MOC’s commitment to creating a supportive environment for athletes to thrive and achieve their full potential on the global stage.
