The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an ‘orange’ alert for Maharashtra, Gujarat, Goa, Uttarakhand, Sikkim, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and West Bengal, predicting heavy rainfall for September 27. Dhule, Nandurbar, and Nasik districts in Maharashtra are also on orange alert today, while several other regions are under a yellow alert. The Regional Meteorological Centre Mumbai predicts that the city and its suburbs will experience generally cloudy skies with moderate rain or thundershowers. The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to be around 31 degrees Celsius and 25 degrees Celsius respectively. At 12:00 noon today, Mumbai recorded a temperature of 28.9 degrees Celsius with 7 percent humidity.
Meanwhile, the national capital, Delhi, is expected to witness light rainfall throughout the day. At 12:00 noon today, Delhi registered a temperature of 28.8 degrees Celsius with 76 percent humidity. The weather department predicts wet spells in the city today and tomorrow.
The IMD’s latest weather bulletin has also issued a warning for Northwest India, predicting isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall over Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and East Uttar Pradesh on September 27. On September 28, isolated heavy rainfall is very likely in Uttarakhand.
Heavy rains lashed the Jammu region on Friday, bringing a welcome respite from the heat and bringing the temperature down in the Valley. The IMD predicts light rain at isolated places in the Valley throughout the day.
