The highly anticipated Kalki 2898 AD, directed by Nag Ashwin, has set social media ablaze with its star-studded cast and visually stunning trailer. This epic science fiction, set in a post-apocalyptic world, features Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, and Deepika Padukone in lead roles. With a massive budget of ₹ 600 crore, it is poised to become the most expensive Indian film ever made.

Inspired by Hindu scriptures, Kalki 2898 AD follows a journey from the Mahabharata era to the year 2898 AD. It centers on Kalki, the 10th avatar of the Hindu god Vishnu, played by Prabhas. The trailer has garnered over 1 crore views in 14 hours, leaving fans in awe of its breathtaking visuals and exceptional performances.

The film’s ₹ 600-crore budget includes actors’ fees worth ₹ 200 crore, according to Pinkvilla. Prabhas reportedly charged ₹ 150 crore for the film while Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan received ₹ 18 crore and ‘Universal Hero’ Kamal Hassan ₹ 20 crore, the publication reported while adding that Deepika Padukone was paid ₹ 20 crore.

Kalki 2898 AD is set in the mythical and dystopian city of Varanasi, following a journey from the Mahabharata in 3102 BC to 2898 AD. It centers on Kalki, the 10th avatar of the Hindu God, Vishnu.

The film was initially scheduled to be released on May 9, but was postponed due to the Lok Sabha Elections 2024. The new worldwide release date is set for June 27.
