A horrifying incident has come to light in Karnataka, where a class 3 student was brutally beaten and tortured at the Ramakrishna Ashram. The boy, identified as Tarun Kumar, was allegedly accused of stealing a pen by his classmates. The in-charge of the ashram, Venugopal, and his aides took the matter into their own hands, subjecting the young boy to a harrowing ordeal.
According to the boy’s family, Tarun was locked up in a room at the ashram for three days. During this time, he was subjected to severe physical abuse. A teacher, along with two older boys, beat him with firewood, leaving bruises on his body. They even used a bat after the firewood broke. Tarun described the incident, stating that he was taken to Yagdir to beg for alms at the railway station, but he didn’t receive any money. He believes this was the reason for the brutal beating he received.
Tarun suffered multiple injuries, including swollen eyes, and is currently hospitalized for treatment. His family explained that he was staying at the ashram due to financial difficulties. The family refuted the allegation that Tarun stole a pen, claiming that he merely picked up a fallen pen. On Saturday, another boy even gave the teacher’s pen to Tarun because he didn’t have one. The incident escalated when the teacher found the pen with Tarun on Sunday.
Tarun’s mother, upon visiting the ashram, was informed about the attack by her elder son, Arun Kumar. She vehemently denied the allegation of her son stealing a pen, stating that the teacher’s actions were extreme and unjustified. She claimed that the teacher tortured Tarun, using belts, blindfolding him, tying his hands, causing cuts on his legs and hands, and beating him until midnight.
The incident came to the attention of Sudarshan, a child rights activist, who rescued the boy and brought the issue to the attention of government authorities at the Women and Child Welfare Ministry. An FIR has been filed against the accused, and the investigation into this horrific case is ongoing. The authorities are committed to ensuring justice for Tarun and taking strict action against those responsible for this brutal act of violence against a young child.
