A Florida man, 41-year-old Farhad Deiham, was arrested this week on animal cruelty charges after allegedly shooting the family dog in the face during a domestic dispute.
According to Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno, Deiham threatened to shoot everyone in his home, including two children, after being confronted about cheating allegations. Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered the dog, Louie, hiding and severely injured, with blood gushing from his face and neck.
Surveillance footage presented at a press conference showed Deiham shooting the pit bull mix outside the home. The video captured the dog collapsing and发出惨烈的叫声. Sheriff Marceno emphasized that the dog exhibited no aggression and was simply seeking affection.
Louie was immediately taken to a pet hospital for treatment, where he received prompt care. Marceno noted Louie’s sweet and loving demeanor towards everyone he encountered. While Louie is expected to make a full recovery, time is needed for his facial wounds to heal completely.
Deiham has been charged with aggravated animal cruelty. Sheriff Marceno stated that Deiham will not be able to evade accountability for his actions. Louie made an appearance at the press conference, looking healthy and receiving a cupcake from Marceno, who declared it to be Louie’s birthday.
Marceno emphasized Louie’s exceptional qualities and condemned Deiham’s behavior. He noted that although Deiham has no history of violent crime, his name will be included in an animal abuse registry, and he will be prohibited from owning a dog for five years if convicted.
The children in the household were unharmed, and the Department of Children and Families has been notified of the incident. Sheriff Marceno reiterated the severity of the incident, highlighting Louie’s suffering and the dangerous mindset of individuals who commit such acts. He emphasized that those who lack compassion for animals often display other concerning behaviors.
