You might know Nara Smith as the model and TikTok star whose calming ASMR-style cooking videos frequently pop up on your For You Page. But this Paris Fashion Week, Smith swapped her chic kitchen for a coveted spot in the front row at the Miu Miu show.
Arriving in the City of Light with her husband, Lucky Blue Smith, and their youngest daughter Whimsy Lou, Smith sat down with Vogue to get ready for the presentation and share her tips for navigating life as a busy mom. With a playful attitude, she declared, “The secret when traveling with kids is just doing it. You black out, get to the destination, and ask yourself how you got there.”
Smith’s Miu Miu day started with a quick glam session at her hotel. For hair, she opted for a sleek, pulled-back braid, while her makeup focused on “giving a little structure to the eye.” While the glam team worked their magic, Smith discussed her favorite things about Paris. “I like the food,” she said. “The croissants—no one does it like the French people when it comes to pastries. I’ve actually never attempted a croissant, so I will report back once I do.” (We’re all eagerly awaiting that baking update, Nara!)
For those unfamiliar with Smith’s online presence, she often guides her followers through her handmade recipes, narrating with a soft, soothing voice. “I’ve always had a passion for [cooking],” Smith told Vogue. “Over the last year or two, it developed into what it is now, because I was dealing with eczema and an auto-immune disease. It forced me to look at food in a different way. That’s how I slipped into making a lot of things from scratch.”
As the final touches were applied, the conversation shifted to Smith’s kitchen essentials. “Getting sharp knives, it makes the world of a difference, and one good pan, and you’re all set,” she shared. Before revealing her final look, Smith also spoke about her relationship with Lucky, who frequently makes cameos in her cooking videos. This Fashion Month, they attended shows together, including Burberry and Gucci, and Smith also watched Lucky walk the runway for Ralph Lauren in the Hamptons. “It’s always a fun moment watching him walk,” said Smith. “I like attending shows with him because he is my best friend, and it’s always fun hanging out with your best friend and work.”
Finally, Smith slipped into her Miu Miu ensemble—a dazzling black coat, a blue button-down shirt, and a black bra-and-brief set. She shared that her style has evolved since becoming a mother, and she’s been experimenting with different looks. “Throughout pregnancy, I leaned more into wearing dresses, because that’s all I could fit, and I refused to buy maternity wear,” she explained. But at the end of the day, her approach to dressing remains simple. “I don’t really box myself in,” she said. “Whatever I like, I’m gonna wear.”
