Saurabh Gaikwad, the son of NCP leader Bandu Gaikwad, has been accused of causing a car crash in Pune. According to reports, Gaikwad rammed his SUV into a poultry tempo, injuring two people. The incident occurred at Z Corner on Manjari-Mundhwa Road in Pune around 5 AM on Tuesday. Police have filed a case against Gaikwad under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Motor Vehicle Act.
The incident comes in the wake of another high-profile car crash in Mumbai. On July 9th, a BMW car driven by Mihir Shah allegedly rammed into a two-wheeler, killing a woman, Kaveri Nakhwa, and injuring her husband. Shah has been remanded in 14-day judicial custody.
These incidents have sparked concerns about road safety in India. Earlier this year, a Porsche car driven by a minor in Pune crashed into two IT professionals, killing them. The lenient bail granted to the minor accused in that case caused nationwide outrage.
