Olly Alexander, the lead singer of Years & Years and the UK’s representative in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, is slated to make a cameo appearance on the renowned British soap opera ‘EastEnders.’ As part of his preparation for his Eurovision performance, Alexander will stop by the iconic Queen Vic pub in the fictional Walford neighborhood. Alexander shared his excitement about appearing on the beloved soap, stating, ‘I’m thrilled to be making my first appearance on ‘EastEnders’ and in the most iconic pub in the UK.’ He continued, expressing his admiration for the show’s legendary cast and crew. Alexander initially intended to keep his cameo a secret from his mother, an avid ‘EastEnders’ viewer, but later admitted that she would be delighted by the news. Last month, Alexander released his Eurovision entry, ‘Dizzy,’ co-written with electronic producer Danny L Harle. The track has drawn comparisons to the Pet Shop Boys’ 1987 hit ‘It’s a Sin,’ which Alexander has previously covered. Neil Tennant of Pet Shop Boys has addressed these observations, acknowledging that some listeners may perceive similarities but maintaining that the band’s music has a distinct sound.
