Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) founder S. Ramadoss has emphasized the need for proper maintenance of buses owned by the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC). Recent incidents involving broken bus axles highlight the lack of adequate maintenance and funding for spare parts. Dr. Ramadoss pointed out that nearly 1,500 of TNSTC’s 20,925 buses have exceeded 15 years of operation, while approximately 25% are out of commission due to insufficient funds for repairs. He urged the state government to allocate adequate funds to transport corporations to ensure proper maintenance and prevent such incidents in the future.
