Shawn Levy in Talks to Direct Marvel’s ‘Avengers 5’
According to Deadline, Shawn Levy is Marvel’s top choice to direct ‘Avengers 5’, with preliminary discussions underway. Levy has familiarized himself with the latest script penned by ‘Loki’ creator Michael Waldron.
Levy is a highly sought-after director and producer in Hollywood, with upcoming projects including ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ and ‘Stranger Things’ season 5. His track record of helming successful big-budget Hollywood productions bodes well for Marvel, which is determined to regain its box office prowess.
‘Avengers 5’ was initially envisioned as ‘Avengers: The Kang Dynasty,’ with Daniel Cretton attached as director and Jeff Loveness as screenwriter. However, Cretton departed in 2023, and Waldron replaced Loveness. Marvel also severed ties with Jonathan Majors, who was cast as Kang the Conqueror, due to legal issues.
Despite the lack of a director, script, and villain, Deadline reports that over 60 MCU characters are expected to make an appearance. The film is expected to be more ensemble-driven than previous installments, with characters sharing equal prominence.
‘Avengers 5’ is currently slated for release on May 1, 2026.
