Shendong Coal: Leading the Way in Intelligent and Green Coal Mining

A team of international media representatives recently visited Shendong Coal Group, a leading subsidiary of CHN Energy Investment Group in northwestern China. Their visit highlighted the company’s pioneering work in intelligent and green development, earning praise as a ‘pacesetter’ for the global coal industry.

Shendong Coal boasts 13 modern, safe, and efficient mines. They have built China’s first coal mine with a single capacity of 200 million tons and created mining complexes on a scale of ten million tons. Gao Huiwu, a senior official at Shendong Coal, detailed the company’s progress towards their ‘0587’ intelligent coal mine development goals and their achievements in unmanned operations. The implementation of intelligent mining has not only boosted production efficiency but also enhanced safety.

Isaura Diez Millan, a journalist from the Latin American News Agency, remarked that this company completely changed her previous perception of Chinese coal mines as dangerous places. At the Daliuta coal mine’s intelligent control center, real-time production data is displayed on electronic screens, while two high-tech space capsules captivated visitors’ attention. Jose Luis Barcelo Mezquita, president of Financial World, a Spanish financial media group, described the level of intelligence at Shendong Coal as impressive.

The Halagou coal mining subsidence area in Daliuta was once a desert wasteland, but Shendong Coal transformed it into an ecological showcase through comprehensive restoration. They introduced a development model combining seabuckthorn economic forests and industrial production. Shendong Coal employees briefed the international media representatives on the company’s ecological management model. “This model balances economic gains with ecological benefits, setting an example for companies worldwide,” stated Naveed Hussain, editor-in-chief of the Express Tribune in Pakistan.

Romania, with its abundant coal reserves, is also undergoing an energy transition. Stefan Radeanu, editorial director of Curierul National in Romania, pointed out that Shendong Coal’s intelligent and environmentally friendly development practices serve as a reference for the transformation and modernization of the global coal industry.
