Bollywood fitness enthusiast Shilpa Shetty Kundra and her sister Shamita Shetty, along with their mother, recently embarked on a trip to the Hindu shrine in Jammu — Mata Vaishno Devi. During their journey, the sister duo actively documented their experiences on social media, sharing numerous photos and videos accompanied by the hashtag — vaishnodevidiaries. However, one aspect of their posts and stories particularly irked netizens: the sisters, who arrived in Jammu via private aircraft, opted to ride horses to reach the shrine. In a video shared by Shamita, Shilpa, renowned for her physically fit and toned body, was seen smiling while riding a horse back to reach the Vaishno Devi temple.
The sisters’ decision to ride horses, instead of completing the 13-km trek on foot, sparked outrage among netizens. Many expressed disappointment, questioning the sisters’ fitness levels and accusing them of animal cruelty. Comments flooded in, condemning Shilpa’s actions.
“Bs ho gya yoga, kha gyi taqat, bechari budhapa aa hi gya,” one user commented, while another questioned, “Paedal ni jskte?” “Kisi janwar ko dukh deke Ashirwad thori milegaa,” read another comment.
One user even suggested that Shilpa’s visit to Vaishno Devi was an attempt to mitigate her husband Raj Kundra’s wrongdoings. “Husband bure kaam krte rhe aur yai..bechari unko achha krne mai lgi rhe…aur kudh sai chl kr jao yaar yai bss un bujurgo kai liye hh jinse chla nhi jata,” the comment read.
Following the backlash, Shilpa shared a post with her mother on Mother’s Day, expressing her love and gratitude. She wrote, “At Vaishnodevi with our Devi. Happy Mother’s Day , today, tomorrow and everyday Ma . We will love you and will celebrate you forever”.
