Starship Troopers: Extermination to Challenge Offworld Helldivers 2 with October Launch

Following the success of Offworld Helldivers 2, Starship Troopers: Extermination, the co-op shooter based on the beloved sci-fi franchise, is gearing up to join the fray on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S this October.

Developed by Offworld Industries, Starship Troopers: Extermination has been available in early access on Steam since May 2023. The game pits players against hordes of alien bugs in intense cooperative battles that support up to 16 players. Despite sharing similarities with Offworld Helldivers 2, Starship Troopers: Extermination sets itself apart with its unique features.

One key differentiator is the inclusion of a dedicated single-player mode. The mode comprises 25 distinct PvE levels and follows a special operations group led by the iconic General Johnny Rico, whose voice is provided by actor Casper Van Dien, who portrayed the character in the Starship Troopers films. Offworld Industries has also hinted at expanding the single-player offerings post-launch.

Starship Troopers: Extermination also boasts a diverse array of character classes and light base-building elements. While hardcore Offworld Helldivers 2 fans may remain loyal to their preferred title, Starship Troopers: Extermination offers Xbox players a compelling alternative with its officially licensed gameplay and engaging single-player experience.

Upon launch on October 11, Starship Troopers: Extermination will be available digitally and physically for $50. This marks another significant PC game making its way to consoles, following the anticipated release of Amazon’s New World on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S in the same month.
