The National Testing Agency (NTA) has cancelled the UGC-National Eligibility Test (NET) after concerns were raised about the integrity of the examination. The Ministry of Education has ordered a CBI investigation and announced a fresh examination will be conducted. Over 1 million candidates had registered for the June 2024 exam, which determines eligibility for assistant professor and junior research fellowship positions.

Delhi High Court to Deliver Verdict on Manish Sisodia’s Bail Pleas in Excise Policy Case

The Delhi High Court is scheduled to announce its decision on the bail applications filed by former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, who is facing charges in connection with the excise policy case. The case involves alleged irregularities in the implementation of the excise policy, leading to Sisodia’s arrest by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in February 2023. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has also been investigating the matter, and Sisodia was subsequently arrested by the ED as well.

Sisodia’s Judicial Custody Extended Till May 30 in Delhi Liquor Excise Policy Case

The Rouse Avenue Court has extended the judicial custody of former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia until May 30 in connection with the Delhi Liquor Excise policy 2021-22 case. Sisodia was initially arrested by the CBI on February 26 and later by the ED on March 9. The court also adjourned the hearing on framing charges against Sisodia in light of directions from the Delhi High Court. The ED has informed the High Court that the Aam Aadmi Party will be made an accused in the next chargesheet in the money laundering case linked to the excise policy scam.

DHFL Bank Fraud Case: CBI Arrests Former Director Dheeraj Wadhawan

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has apprehended former DHFL director Dheeraj Wadhawan in relation to a colossal bank fraud case involving 34,000 crores. The arrest comes after Wadhawan’s previous detention in the Yes Bank corruption case. Notably, the DHFL case marks the largest banking loan fraud in the country, with a consortium of 17 banks allegedly defrauded. Regulatory authorities have also taken action against the Wadhawan brothers, attaching their assets to recover outstanding dues. The Delhi High Court is currently considering a bail plea from Dheeraj Wadhawan, who has cited medical grounds for his release.
